So about me:

I was first licensed in early 1987 as KB4YBZ and upgraded to
extra class within a few months. I have held the call of KK4OK
since mid-1987.

I had been off the air since the early ‘90s due to family priorities-
the raising of three children, moving, and having an OM (N7EYG, now KK4OW)
with a few health issues. We have been active again since late 2012.

We run an Icom 7600, Ameritron AL-82 amplifier, a KIO Hexbeam mounted on a roof tower at 30', and a Carolina Windom about 28' up in a pine tree.

The KIO hexbeam assembly and installation went smoothly. It works very well mounted on the roof tower.

It performs great- I love it!  And, for the time being, is a good compromise for a tower and much better than the vertical which was taken down after a few months after the beam was installed and tested.

I enjoy a good QSO when they come up and see it as a way to ‘make my
world a little bit larger.’ I love to chase DX, but not at the cost of rudeness
to others, especially the operator on the other end. I’m also doing a lot of CW and some RTTY these days- a way to keep the hobby ‘fresh and exciting.’ And enjoying it immensely!

I now have 5 band DXCC and endorsements for 12, 17, 30, and Digital. Now working towards Honor Roll (328 confirmed Mixed). And making a few contacts on 6M and 160 (with a super loaded dipole wink)

My passions, other than radio, include: plants of all kinds- growing and propagating, gardening, designing landscapes, photography, drawing, reading, writing, riding motorcycles.

We brew our own beer, wine, mead, and hops. I grow a pretty good vegetable garden too!

I have been fortunate to re-connect with ZB2FK, Ernie, after a long time. THEN there is my Brother and Sister- OD5NJ, Gaby, and his XYL OD5YY, Anthoula! I also have a great Friend in Greece, my Buddy Xristos- SV2RKF, we have many laughs! ON4LG- Fred, is a great Friend....so is TI2HMJ- Jorge, DL3SG- Sven, and Jean-Luc- F1ULQ.......

Ed, VE3RA, is a good Friend and DX buddy along with Krish, W4VKU, we have a great time DXing.

We share so many common interests it is truly a pleasure to know them!

So, if you hear me on the air, give a shout! I always welcome the chance to make a new friend!

Our vertical- when we worked 9U4U

Our Hygain vertical (now taken down) The G5RV up about 28'

KK4OW assembling the KIO hexbeam

KK4OK and good friend, Dave, installing the antenna

Up it goes!

Sweet!

Always Remember:

treat the DX as you would like to be treated

if YOU were on the other side of the pile-up!
