I go by Grant, not Charles!

I obtained my technician license in March 2013 and my general license in June 2013. As I am about to retire and have always been interested in "radio" I decide to give amateur radio a try.  I find the hobby much different than I anticipate. It is much more diverse than I thought with the integration of computers and the internet.  There is no end to the items to try.

I am a Georgia native, born and raised in Laurens County.  Laurens County is in the central part of the state below the fall line.

I spent my working career as an electrical engineer (commercial building design - power, lighting and fire alarm).

I am a member of the North Fulton Amateur Radio League and the North Fulton Amateur Radio Emergency Services. These two organizations provide more than enough subject matter to be investigated.

There is not enough time and money to fully explore all the aspects of the hobby.

As a beginner, sometimes the hobby can be intimidating, due to the complex nature of the radio and computer world.

Equipment: Wouxun Dual Band HT - Yaesu FT-1900R (VHF/UHF) - Yaesu FT-450 HF using G5RV Antenna

Recently added a TenTech Argonaut V QRP Rig with LDG auto tuner and Signalink TNC

I am looking forward to learning much more about the hobby.
