Personal

(Action shot from my groups first MAN SKILLS meeting, showing off our stone axe builds)

https://plus.google.com/u/0/events/cb5fvnacn1fc2miqcf53pfmg6k4

I was born and raised in Worthington Ohio. During College I lived with my Grandparents in Sunbury Ohio, which also happened to be next door to my wife's parents. Though I knew, my now wife, since we where kids, we did get married while I was going to DeVry. After GE recruited a fellow student and friend, as well as myself, we moved to North Carolina in 2001.

I have stayed with GE all the way till today, where I now help manage and improve the software tools and systems we use to provide the engineering support for our manufacturing floor.

Just prior to Christmas 2013 I passed my General Class exam, and while visiting family in Ohio I finally got my call sign on the FCC database. Since then I have had fun roaming around with my cheap HT's talking with locals as well as two friends from work that are also Hams. And, believe it or not, I even talked my wife into taking the test... She passed with flying colors and walked away with her Technician Class with only a single question wrong!

Ham hardware... well... not much. I had two UV5R+ radios... and since have moved up in the world to the Baofeng UV82 radios! And for anyone looking for a cheap way to get on the air with no regrets and no issue getting great reports... GET A UV82! I love my little radios. I hook them to the PC, put up to 127 favorites, and hit the road. I have made over thirty miles on mine, and have seen others get over 50... they sound great and work well.

Ahh... the UV82, 40 bucks of sweet ham action!        US Permit 2014-2015

My hobby is basically hobbies... or that is what I am told. I love learning new things, and experiencing new places and ideas. I have fooled with everything from Krav Maga (Israeli Marshal arts.. VERY good stuff) , to building and flying model airplanes. I have a diploma in basic gunsmithing, and at one point was a certified Home defense instructor for the NRA. I am a bit of a gear geek, and can't get enough tactical stuff to suite me. And on the softer side of things I often sew my own handy-crafts rather than buy them... Like the time I made my own chalk bag for Rock climbing.

So, all in all, I can't possibly list everything that someone may want to know... but maybe this has given you a little bit of info about me.

Feel free to contact me...

I am nearly always available via Google Hangout (ironmessengerap),

or email ironmessengerap at G Mail dot com.
