Congratulations on your QSO with an Alaskan station, located at a special place known locally as "The Great Land" !!!

As original holder of this call since 1972, I was first issued Novice-class (WL7HRN); then Tech, Gen, Adv, & Extra-class (KL7HRN) in subsequent years.

Also, held the one-year commemorative call (AL7HRN) throughout America's 200th Bicentennial Year of 1976.

My QTH is actually 6 miles north of Wasilla (near Wolf Lake Airport); a few miles from the base of the Talkeetna Mountain Range.  Wasilla is situated in the Matanuska-Susitna Valley.

This valley consists of numerous lakes and confluence of watershed river systems originating from the nearby mighty "Matanuska" (shown below) and "Knik" Glaciers.

The southern portion of this valley consists of the Chugach Mountain Range; resulting from vertical displacement of subduction zone forces

located off Alaska's southern coastline.  This Aleutian Trench area is where the Pacific Plate collides with the North American Plate.
