KM1CC, the Marconi Cape Cod Radio Club, partners with Cape Cod National Seashore for Marconi related events.  Marconi’s Wellfleet, MA USA wireless station is listed as a National Landmark on the National Register of Historic Places (1975) and is now part of the Seashore.  Weather permitting, KM1CC sets up a temporary ARS inside the park’s (former) Nauset Coast Guard Station, Eastham or operates from other park locations.

KM1CC's next on-the-air event will probably be 2018 January 18th-19th for the 115th anniversary of the first USA to Europe transatlantic message sent from Marconi's South Wellfleet Station USA to his  Poldhue UK station January 18, 1903.   We will post final dates and UTC times later.

Also  -waiting for April 2018 International Marconi Day dates to be announced by the Cornish Amateur Radio Club.

Recent Events- Friday, May 19, 2017 for Parks on the Air (POTA) - National Endangered Species Day

KM1CC @ Cape Cod National Seashore operated on Friday, May 19,2017 1200-2000 UTC to participate in National Endangered Species Day.  Amateurs participating in World Wide Flora and Fauna/Parks on the Air WWFF/POTA, can receive WWFF/POTA credit.  Cape Cod National Seashore’s identifier is:  KFF-0672.  Will operate mostly CW with some SSB. Frequencies for CW and SSB will be listed soon, please check back.

Endangered species at Cape Cod National Seashore include: 

  • Marine environment:  sea turtles, whales
  • Shorebirds:  piping plovers, roseate terns, red knot
  • Mammals”  Northern long-eared bat
  • Invertebrate:  Northeastern beach tiger beetle

BTW- whales, seals, sharks can be seen from the  beach that is just yards away from KM1CC's operating location, the former Coast Guard Station, Coast Gurad Beach, Eastham, MA USA.  This station is now used for education programs run by the National Park Service.
