Hi Y'all ! de KM4KLT (or T. Ray (tee-ray)), if we are talking on the radio.  I am still new to the world of Ham Radio.  Right now, I have my Tech License, but hope to upgrade to the rank of General in a few months.  I love Ham Radio with a passion and I wholeheartedly believe that there is a niche for anyone in this hobby.  I found my niche and it is DStar.  Who would have thought that a person with a Tech license could talk the world on 5 watts using a mag mount on his file cabinet ?  Well it can be done and I'm enjoying the heck out of it.

As previously mentioned, I do plan on sitting for my General Ticket in the next couple of months, but I won't be looking for an HF radio until AFTER I pass that exam.  Many of my friends are plotting to put a humongus tower in my back yard.  Well... I don't know about that, because others are saying all I need is "100 watts and a wire" to talk the world.  Hmmmmm, I thought I was already doing that on 5 watts and a mag mount.... LOL  Anyway, I DO plan on getting the license and we'll see what happens after that.

Getting back to DStar, if you happen to have a DStar radio, feel free to come up on Reflecter 61-C.  I monitor this Ref when I am on the radio.

Right now, my radios consist of a Baofung (Sp?) HT, an Icom 5100-A and an Icom 51-A+.  The Baofung was given to me as a reward for passing my Technician License.  I have 2 Raspberry Pi-3's (one for the house and the other for my car) and both of them have DVMegas attached.  I have been told that both Icoms sound like they are base stations.

Thanks for visiting my page and I look forward to meeting you in a QSO soon, on DStar.  73 and y'all stay safe, now, ya heah?

T. Ray
