I received a Notice ticket back in about 1973 and my original call sign was WB5ZLQ.  With the family growing and job responsibilities along with a transfer to another state my ham career took a back seat until March 2016 when I passed the Technician test and was issued call sign KM4STL.  Then in late June 2016 I upgraded to General.  I don't have a HF radio yet, but I'm thinking about it.  I wanted a General license back in 1973, but it just wasn't in the cards.  Now on to Extra?  Who knows.

I am a full time RV'er and volunteer at a couple of different state parks as well as with the Corps of Engineers during the year as well as volunteer as a ADA golf cart driver at Talladega Superspeedway for each race during the year.

Since a lot of my time is spent where I don't have access to 2m repeaters and am antenna challenged being in the RV, my only ham rig at the moment is an ICOM ID-51A+ and I like to spend time on D-Star.  I have a Raspberry Pi  2B with a DVAP in a portable enclosure that can be operated via internal battery, 12V, or 120V so as long as I have a good cell signal I'm on D-Star.  I do spend time on local repeaters when in different areas when I am close enough.

I took my General license exam at the Panama City ARC and they arm twisted me (not really) into joining their club and I do enjoy their weekly meetings.  I'm learning that a lot has changed since 1973.

Now what to do next?

My current location is in Panama City Beach, FL, but my home base is in Maplesville, AL.
