I am a returning Ham operator with over 35 years of RC experience which includes Drones. I returned to the Ham hobby to be able to legally operate drones with FPV (first person view) television transmission capability. To date, I still have not flown a drone with FPV as I have found radio to be far more fun. I do still fly RC Planes and Drones, just not with FPV....yet. HIHI

In 2014, I built an OHR100A 40M QRP radio and acquired a very seasoned, well used and well taken care of Elecraft K2 with SSB rig (serial number 0621 per the last owner, serial number tag missing) as the third caretaker of it. I earned my QRP WAS award on OMISS in 33 days (Certificate #24) and 1st Squad Esprit De Military (Certificate #344) in 2014 prior to getting a modern 100w radio.

In 2017, I participated in my first solo operator contest and took second place in the PODXS 40M Sprint in the Medium Power Class.

My current station equipment besides the Elecraft K2 include a TS590SG setup as my permenant base station, and a FT857D for Portable field work. I also have an Elecraft KX2 and a 4SQRP Tuner for portable QRP operation. My permanent station equipment runs off of a MFJ 25A Power Supply backed up with a 155Ah 12Vdc emergency power system. My portable station runs off a 35Ah 12Vdc battery system supported by a Battery Tender, and eventually by solar charging system in the field.

Equipment I've built: OHR100A QRP CW radio, American Morse Bushwacker Key, 4SQRP Tuner, 1:1 & 4:1 Baluns, 9:1 & 4:1 Ununs, several single and multiple band Dipoles, 40M Horizontal Loop, and End Fed antennas. I plan on building a new Elecraft K2 eventually.

My favorite modes QRO or QRP are PSK31, JT65, FT8, and WSPR. I can occassionally be found on SSB usually when checking into the Moonlighters net (7.279) or OMISS (various freqs but usually 7.185). I also answer SSB CQs for Special Event Stations, Contests, and QSO Parties from time to time.

My preferred bands 20M, 30M, and 40M. I can also be occasionally found on 15M and 80M usually doing Digital Modes.

I regularly volunteer to provide ham radio service for local events.

Volunteer events I have or will be participating in:

Lonestar Bike tour 2014 SAG, KC Corporate Challenge Triathlon (cancelled due to weather), Shawnee Mission Triathlon (cancelled due to weather), Midwest Meltdown Triathlon (Tactical Call B-3), and Summer Breeze 2014 SAG, MS 150 Bike Ride 2014 SAG, MS Walkathon 2015, MS Bikeathon 2015 SAG, Summer Breeze 2015 SAG. Summer Breeze 2016 SAG, MS Walk Jenn Shadow, MS Bike 150 SAG, 2017 MS Walk James Shadow, Summer Breeze 2017 SAG, MS Bike 150 SAG.

I am a veteran of the US Army where I was a Multichannel Radio Systems Installer/Operator as well as the Battalion Mail Clerk during Desert Shield/Storm and currently work in the Aerospace industry on Commercial Aircraft navigation radio equipment.
