Thank you for visiting my home page at QRZ.com!

(my call was formerly KD4PWU and changed to KO2F on February 5th, 2013)

I log all contacts to LOTW and eQSL. This is normally done on the day of the contact and frequently within the hour.

For digital work I use a Hermes / Anan-10 (https://apache-labs.com/) high performance software defined radio (HPSDR) which I operate over an Ethernet LAN using PowerSDR from the HPSDR community, Ham Radio Deluxe, WSJT-X (JT65, JT9, FT8) and JT-Alert.   When I need more than 10 watts I use a kit built JUMA-100D amp.

In 2016 I decided to take the plunge into SSB operations with an Anan-100D and a JUMA PA-1000 (http://JumaRadio.com/Juma-pa1000/).  It has turned out to be a rock solid and nearly distortion free configuration that gets updated once or twice a year via the open PowerSDR OpenHPSDR development and support community.  I am using a Logitech G930 wireless headset (untethered is the only way to go).  It doesn't get better than this for well under $5k.

My backup rig is a Kenwood TS-590.

I use a G5RV for 160 meters at about 40 feet and as needed for 80, 40 and 30 meters. I use a Buxcom Windom on 80 through 12 meters.  I also have a Hex Beam antenna that I use for 20-6 meters manufactured by NA4RR (http://www.k4hex.com/). Mine is about 41 feet at the top and is turned easily with an old U100TV rotor (http://www.rotorservice.com/).  During the summer of 2014 I purchased a used HighGain 70HD tower and put a 3 element SteppIR Beam on the top of it.  A year later lightning hit the beam and I replaced it with the 30/40M upgrade.  What can I say, perfect SWR from 40 to 6 meter is easy to live with.

If you own or are considering a Kenwood TS-590 everything you could possibly need can be found on one page...
