I have been interested in Amateur radio for a long time. My cousin had a HF mobile in his car that took up the entire passenger side. When he told me that he could talk around the world with that radio, I was bitten. That was over 40 years ago. To me, Morse Code was the unobtainable goal that stood in my way of getting a Novice ticket.

Fast forward 40+ years, and the Morse Code requirement was removed and I saw a listing on ARRL that the Barrow County GA ARC was holding a testing session on my off weekend. I started studying again, and took the test. Missed one question, and that bummed me out, but oh well!

I have to mitigate my desire for new equipment with the need to make sure all the bills get paid, so I will settle for my Yaesu VX-8DR and the mobile setup that I have right now.

Soon to be purchased when funds allow will be a dual bander for the car with more power than the HT, and an decent dual or tri band antenna (Now the Kenwood TM-D710A is installed professionally by Sound Sensations in Marietta, GA.  And let's not forget the help from the guys at HRO in Atlanta.)

Now I am through with purchases for my new hobby.  I know that I will be wanting to go HF at sometime, but I have enough equipment at this point in time to get me started.
