Hello PPL !

 Thanks for the visit.

Greets from Cipolletti, Rio Negro, Argentina, farm´s zone....!!

Collins Antenna Design

During a lot of years, I have been using to transmit and receive the Collins design antenna. I choose the antenna according my focus, 160, 80 and 40 meters.

Dimensions: 42 + 42 meters  horizontal     30 meters open wire line fed, 600 ohms.  Balanced parallel tuner on all bands. Now, resized the fed line, 43 mts open wire line fed, and 100 ft high.

Performance : Terrific. If you got a place to put it....good!

Vertical antenna design :

To have vertical polarization, I have installed an inverted L. The performance is very nice in 160, 80, 40, 30,20,17 and 15 mts.

Design was dedicated to 160 and 80, but is specially efficient on 40 and 17 mts.

Each band has 4 isolated elevated radials, and 160 has at the moment 10, all of them at 8 feet.

Antenna has 50,5 mts long of tiny telephone wire, 28 mts vertical.  Tuning on 160 with a series capacitor, 80 with an LC (at antenna base), and the rest of the bands a direct connection (inner coaxial to wire). Tuning the rest immediately after the rig, into the shack easily, with an LC also.( You can use the ATU equipment. External LC if you have no ATU, or if you are using QRO)

The LC has two SO-239 connectors, is good to change the fed point ( high Z or low Z)

System has an ugly choke at antenna base, and is not connected to ground there. Unfortunately, I can´t find yet some core rod to use like a choke...

Antenna`s Reception:

I`m using  a Super Loop antenna for RX ( pointed to EU / AF ), and a BOG antenna.

SL is really a very nice antenna.  This is a link to see the information.

Noise at the Rig on 160 mts.

Vertical :S 9

Horizontal . S 6

SL : S 3

BOG :  S 0

If you need more information, or if you  have a comment for me, please, e-mail me!!

My activity is focused on low bands. CW and FT8 generally.

Need for WAZ

40 : 1-34-40

80 : 2-18-23-26-34

160: 2-26-33-34-35-37

About QSL : I have no problem to send or receive QSL´s, an IRC or three dollars is ok. Thank you!( IRC is better..)

But, I have some problems with local post office. If you send something, and it back to you, or don´t receive my card in time , please e mail me.

Is too important for me if you have my card, of course, I´d like to have yours also! Together, we will find the best for us.

Said that, I ám recently  included  into LoTW!! Please, use LoTW!!
