Having held a number of Ham radio callsigns which include DA1SR, VE6LJD, VP8CQE, DA4RS, G7LJD. I enjoy many forms of Ham radio especially operating on 6m 4m & 10m. Digital modes on any HF band and anything new or pioneering. Skeds are welcome anytime.

August 2016

Decided to start TX'ing again, baby steps, so going to be active with low power on Digi modes mainly JT65 and about 20W Max. Will likely be putting the beam antenna back up so that should help with some DX. Alhough the verticle hears very well, getting the DX to hear me is another matter. :(

July 2016

Not a great year for me this year, sadly I was diagnosed with a severe heart problem having been into hospital for a routine operation totally unconnected. In May of this year I reluctantly had to have a pacemaker with defibrilator fitted. So this year my radio operation has had a complete turnaround and I'm currently unable to transmit and limited only to annoying operators on the dx cluster :). Also this year I went totally verticle for 50mhz only and listening using a 2 x 5/8 verticle which is pretty big at nearly 7m in length. I have been very surprised at how well it works and pretty confident I could work all of the stations in EU that I have spotted. Amazingly, to date I have also heard 8 different U.S states the Carribean and stations in central Africa on SSB CW and Digi modes on 6M. Quite impressive for a verticle antenna.

JULY 2015

I've largely been away from radio for the last couple of years so not been active, I'm currently bitten by the SDR bug and having great fun with 'Dongles' and various sdr receivers. Looking forward to see what that brings in the future. Short term plans are to upgrade/replace existing  5 element 6m beam with something a little larger, replace all antennas with new low loss coax (Blimey that stuff has gotten expensive). Dust off the Azimuth and Elevation rotator and see whats up in the air including a foray into EME and continue to get my head around various flavours of Linux operating system. (that really is a full time hobby in itself). Update my qrz.com profile and stick some piccies on here, that seems to be the 'in-thing' these days and the more I think the bigger the list gets so I'll leave it there.....

Oh and If you work me on any band in the coming months, then the chances are I'll have received you on an SDR receiver of some sort using SDR Console V2 and an Elad Switch box to permit isolated transmit.
