Hi, I live in Derby UK. I have recently become an Radio Amateur enthusiast, probably because I have some communications knowledge from the RAF and later implementing data networks. I took my three licences (foundation, Intermediate and Full)  in 2011.

My life, up to retirement, has been associated with communications. Cold War Radar V Bombers RAF many years training at RAF Yatesbury for  NBS fitted to "V" bombers. Then Rolls-Royce Derby as a communications technician/analyst modems and networks.

My radio equipment changes reguarly and I tend to be the one that buys at high price and sells for less so in general help newcommers who buy seccond hand.

Currently

 Icom ID 5100, Yaesu FT991A

I use a   40 metre loop, 80 metre half wave dipole,  plus 2/70 colinear and 7 element Yagi for 2 mtr SSB.

I train at Foundation level, usually on a one to one basis, quite satisfying when the candidates pass!

I have a servere hearing loss so cannot always hear call signs clearly, I hope to use 2 mtr SSB for local chats

Pease feel free to contact me if I get it wrong, I often do!

Thanks to all who contact me and answer my calls!!

I log into QRZ.com and will send EQSL cards

Oh yes patience and clear call signs please as I am quite deaf and hearing aids are difficult, they amplify the noise as well!
