Hi and thanks for looking at my QRZ page
Very pleased to now have achieved my Full Licence, took the exam on 8th Oct and registered my new callsign M0URF on Tuesday 18th Oct 2016
I Got my Foundation Licence on the 11th Feb 2014 and my Intermediate Licence just under 6 months later.
What got me interested in Ham Radio?
From a young age i had and interest in CB radio and always had a handheld one around somewhere, and subequently in almost every vehicle i have owned, always fancied the idea of Ham radio but thought it was going to me far too much study using time i hadnt got spare, I took part in some JOTA events with my Scout my Troop and was encouraged by G0NXA so we can continue with the JOTA events eventually unaided by him, and he can assist elsewhere.l
We! (Myself aided by G7IHN and G0NXA) are now working with some of our older Scouts and aiming towards getting them licenced! Have succeeded in getting 4 other people (1 ASL and 3 Scouts) Licenced with plans to get more scouts on air.
I am active on 2m and 70cms (Home use Yaesu 7900 and mobile with a Yaesu FT857 on all bands 70cm 2m & HF)
also active on HF from home having overcome a few issues i am now able to transmit on HF. Current HF setup is Kenwood TS850S and a MFJ993 to a single feeder two element parallel dipole one element working 40m and the second working 17m further elements to be added for other bands
colinear attenna has been raised from its temporary pole and is now fixed some 6ft higher and permanently attached to house. have access to many repeaters from my QTH, you will sometimes find me on local GB3UK, GB3CG and sometimes further on GB3WR
have now added a cobweb antenna to the setup and a second HF radio (its an oldie but seems like a goodie! (Kenwood TS520SE and a KW EZee match)
Adding far too many radios to the collection now to list!!
Thanks again for looking
