After being off the air for about 12 to 15 years I decided to get back on the air early June 2013 which ment i had to get a new radio so I bought a 2M 70cm Boafeng UV 5RA a small portable that seems to work very well transmitting on its own antenna and on my co-liniear up on a pole at the side of my bungalow.

I have a Kenwood 450s HF rig to use along with my ATU and now have my Delta loop and a new mast.. I have also bought a FT-817 ND for mobile or home work. and this works very well.

Since then I bought a 4m fm Anytone that also works great, I only have a mobile antenna at the moment but may make something for home maybe a 300 ohm  slim jim.

I also have an asortment of morse keys and paddles.

I am now enjoying being back on the radio and making a lot of new cantacts a a few new friends along the way

Update 18-01-2016

Joined the Data DXers but I cannot get out with them as much as I would like to but it means I can get out and have a go once in a while.    Been doing a bit of Data on PSK RITTY and JT65 and JT9.  Alos been trying hard to get to grips with morse and even though doing ok and getting a few good contacts ha ha still a way to go yet, but I have to say that since doing it I am loving getting contacts in cw, I recomend it to anyone with a bit of time spare, not easy but not hard either just takes time and such an amazing feeling getting the first under your belt.

And joind Fists No. 17612 and lots of advice and help as well as events to take part in.

I also get on Skype at nights or any time anyone wants a chat face to face and we have a large group now really nice guys so give me a call and meet the other guys, a good get together and can even arange skeds and we have USA, Canada Japan,S Korea and UK plus others joining us all the time, not to take from RF but contact.

Look me up as iamatom  or Paul Alan Brooks or M1AFQ I would think any should get me

Added a new radio to my colection Icom IC-706, WORKS WELL FROM THE CAR UP TO 100watts out.

Anyway it will be nice to make contact so until then 73'
