My name is Andrew Eastland.

I am interested in data modes including PSK on HF and APRS on VHF.  I am a keen constructor and have built my own HF radios and antenna.  I also do a lot with raspberry pi and arduino.

I am involved with the Scouts and have run a number of JOTA events and I have been working with my local school to establish contact with the ISS over packet.

Outside of radio I am a keen hill walker and I also build and fly model aircraft.

My main station rig is an ICOM IC7300 which is connected via an MFJ993B ATU to a home made folded dipole spanning the roof of my house.  This will tune up on all HF bands although it does struggle a bit with 160m.  I mostly use this for PSK and sometimes RTTY operation.

For VHF/UHF operation I have a Kenwood TM-D710GE in the car and a Wouxan quad band which is connected to a white stick colinear mounted at about 10m.  Additionally I have an Alinco DR-135E with built in TNC on 2m which I use for APRS and an IC7000 which I use portable.

On the other end of the house I have a wideband discone antenna connected on a very short coax to an RTL dongle and Raspberry Pi.  This runs the rtl_tcp software which provides a networked SDR that I can connect to from any computer or laptop for reception of any band from HF to just over 2.0Ghz.

Another project is a home built HF receiver on 20m which runs a reverse beacon on PSK31, logging all contacts to the pskreporter web site.  This is connected to a home built dipole running along one side of the house.  This is generally operational 24 X 7 and gives a good quick indication of conditions.

I have an APRS i-gate running on another Raspberry Pi which uses a tnc-x Pi expansion board connected to a Baofung UV5R W/T. This gates APRS traffic onto the apris web system.

I also run a basic weather station which is also connected into the APRS system providing local weather data.

My QSL is via e-qsl. No buro.
