Hiya all, have been a 11 mtr operator since 1978 and a very good friend of mine has been trying to get me to take the RAE for years. Well in June I actualy took the foundation exam and passed in June 2013 with the great help of WKRAS and my good friend G0U00.
I am currently using a Icom IC-7100 with an Adonis microphone via an ZDG- Zll pro 11 ATU into a Imax 2000 vertical or an ally Sigma Eurocom 360, which they seem to tune very well for their location. For 2/70 I use a Yaesu FTM-400 or Icom ID-5100 into a white stick dual band, as you can see nothing elaborate ha ha Just recently I've purchased an 817ND for mobile HF use with a plug and play antenna.Mostly thanks to the secondhand market.Have since found an interest in D-Star since the HF bands have been very poor this year (2015). Also WSPR has come into play, more of a trial really to see how far my antenna could get me on low power.
In the car is a Yaesu FTM-100D with normally a 1/4 over 1/2 antenna for around here
I have recently bought an ID-51E, absolutely brilliant, 4 radio's in one including monitoring the air-band, which I find very useful running through a Shark RF Openspot on D-Star.
Also run Fusion and DMR handsets through the Shark
Ive lived in Wadhurst all my life apart from around 2 years where I think I lost the plot a little and got married, but didnt last long. Cost me an arm and a leg though ha ha.
I have been medically retired from working as a mechanic since around 2003, when Mr. Arthuritus came visiting me. Oh the joys of manual labour and the UK's weather.
