Passed RAE 1967, first licensed 1982 as G6WOC, passed morse 5WPM, had call M5AJI but applied for M0 when morse requirement removed. Nested dipoles 40m & 60m, vertical for 20m made from shortened CB antenna. Radios currently Icom IC735, IC7600, IC7300, IC706 Mk2G (in the motorhome) Alinco DX70, Yaesu FT817ND. Mobile antenna for motorhome is an old G-Whip Flexiten mounted on the rear roof bar, which I can use on 60m /P by stacking 3 coils (40,30,15) on top of the helical base instead of the usual one for the required band. Works surprisingly well on 60m as well as 20m and 40m, where I am sometimes active on Worked All Britain (WAB). My Ordnance Survey 10km square is NC23. Moved to the Highlands from Essex in 2007.

By popular request, here is THE SHED, now (almost) finished (November 2016) ! 22mm Scottish Larch planks, profile metal roof. Note the 10mm Stainless Steel ropes at each corner to (hopefully) prevent it blowing into the Loch in the next hurricane. Anchor points are 1 metre long military ground stakes.

Built the shed mainly to house the 1956 Triumph Tiger100. 1953 T100C engine, 9:1 pistons, Fred Cooper centre plug head (racing head from the 1960s), twin Amal monoblocs, one piece crank, roller main bearings, Somerton high-lift cams (again from the 1960s) with"R" followers, Triumph "Red Spot" interference racing valve springs, close-ratio gearbox 55mph in first gear. Troublesome to pull away on hills !

Around me is very beautiful scenery of mountains and lochs (lakes) and very few people. Here is my local mountain "Quinag".

Here is one of my local lochs (lakes) Loch Glendhu (Black Loch), viewed from my house at sunrise.

Actually a Sea Loch or "Fjord" as it is joined to the sea about 3 miles to  the West.

My village Kylesku has 8 houses and one hotel (closed in Winter). Nearest shop 9 miles (15km). Wildlife includes Golden Eagles (not seen very often) and Red Deer stags who visit my garden and eat everything which is not protected ! Here's one eating a rose bush in my front garden..........

.....and here's a stag cooling off in the pond in my front garden !

Winters are not too cold, contrary to popular belief, because of the Gulf Stream which flows up the West Coast, coldest recorded in 9 Winters is -7 oC. However 20 miles inland in Altnaharra they recorded -23 oC !

Congratulations if you managed to get this far, it means you are not just interested in the size of my linear or how many DXCC I have, and like me you have wide-ranging interests ! If you didn't get this far you would have been relieved to hear that you are, surprisingly, 5/9 , again, again. Please repeat your callsign.

All the best, 73, John McM0GGI.
