Having had the privilege of operating as 3C5J from an oil platform in Equatorial Guinea in 2001/2002 I have been pretty much absent from the bands since.
I have recently moved to a new home which affords me the opportunity of operating on the bands once again (April 2015). I live with my partner Rachel and between us we have 3 children, Craig, Emily & Lana.
I am currently using an Icom 746, stock microphone and a balanced fed doublet inverted V for 80-6m. I'm also the proud owner of a Begali Simplex twin paddle key.
I enjoy working DX as much as the next guy but I have neither the equipment or the incliniation to battle pile ups for hours on end. My main interest lies in CW and you will fine me usually on the bottom 10-20KHz of 80-6 metres 99.9% of the time, rarely venturing onto the phone portions of the band.. I also enjoy experimenting with antennas and trying QRP operation from time to time.
Collecting QSL cards no long holds any real attraction for me but I do appreciate the enjoyment that people get from receiving cards so I am happy to send cards to those that want my QSL. I also use eQSL.
I still have quite a few of my MW0BRO Maritime Mobile cards left so if you DO want my QSL please send direct to my home address.
Besides amateur radio, I also enjoy riding my motorbike. I currently have a Suzuki Bandit 1250.
I also like to strum along on my guitars, I think I sound good :-) Elvis is my main man but I'm also a fan of The Eagles, Garth Brooks, Buddy Holly, The Beatles and Green Day.
