Gained my full UK licence in 2005, been learning morse for the last few years and I'm probably 50% CW these days. Active on all HF bands from 160m through to 10m also 6m, 2m, 70cm. Like to go /P, operating on the hills, either in my van or walking SOTA activations. I'm a member of the RSGB, the FISTS morse preservation society and the SKCC.
I need to update some of these photos; the Clansman has gone, the Yaesu amp has gone, the K3 has gone, the Yaesu 7900 has gone, the Land Rover has gone, the Elecraft KX3 and a Yaesu FT-902DM have gone and so has the Icom ID-5100E with DStar in the van. My main station rig is now a Yaesu FT1000MP MkV and a CRE8900 10/11m in the van.
Highlights include talking to Commander Bill McArthur aboard the ISS on 70cm simplex a few years ago, also 5w CW into New Zealand, clear as a bell with a small inverted-V 40m dipole on a fishing pole fixed to a fence post.
Apart from Ham Radio, I like surfing/stand up paddleboarding, walking, cycling, photography & skiing. Would love to learn to fly light aircraft/microlights one day...
