Personal Bio:

Graduated RAVTS with 2-year industrial electronics certificate and a First Class Radio Telephone Operators License, started work in electronics field in 1974 in consumer electronics industry. Attended Channel Master MATV/CATV and Terrestrial Earth Station schools while working for Missouri's largest electronics parts distributor.  Attended UMC and acquired Missouri P.O.S.T. Law Enforcement Certification and sworn in as a deputy for Phelps County Sheriff's Department in 1992.  Also received Law Enforcement Certified Firearms Instructor Ceritfication from UMC LEED in 1995.  Acquired FCC General Class Radio Operators License in 1994 and Certified Fiber Optic Installer / Technician credentials in 2003. Accepted appointment to Missouri State Highway Patrol Communications Division in 1997 as Radio Operator. Promoted to Chief Technical Shop Engineer - Radar Division and held that position until May 2012. Currently assigned to Missouri State Highway Patrol - Information and Communication Technology Division's Network Administration Unit heading up the General Headquarters Fiber Optic Infrastructure Replacement Project. Retired from Missouri State Highway Patrol on September 1st, 2016. 

Station Equipment:

Main base radios are an Icom 746 Pro and a Yaesu FTDX-3000D HF/6M. Antennas include a 2 meter / 440 ground plane and a homemade 160m Carolina Windom setup in an inverted - V configuration centered at 55 feet above ground level with 22' of vertical radiator choked out at 30' above ground level. Future antennas include a 6BTV vertical mounted 45' off the ground and 15' above a 30' X 60' all metal building with a total of 16 - 45* radials. Mobile radios include a Yaesu FT-8800 Dual Band radio with dual band antenna on my daily driver. A Kenwood TM-231A / 2 meter radio and antenna on my off-road vehicle. A Baufang GT-3 MKII with a base loaded telescoping 5/8 wave Smiley antenna and a Baufang UV-5B are my HT's used daily. Emergency portable setup is an Icom 706MKIIG with tuner and 3-way power/charging and homemade NVIS for HF and twin lead slimjim 2M/70cm antennas.
