Member of Twin City DX Club -TCDXA,  Stillwater Amateur Radio Assn (SARA) in MN,  ARRL,  Minnesota Wireless Assoc.and couple other clubs.

(President of TCDXA 2008 and 2009. Vice-President of Stillwater Amatuer Radio Assn. 2008. Secretary of Stillwater Amatuer Radio Assn. 2011.)

Member of the Stillwater Amateur Radio Assn (SARA- KBØSCE, WØJH). A great club for helping members out with upgrades and Handi-Ham program! I am active in the Member Assistance Program (MAP) to help others install antennas and equipment with the other club members and Handi-Hams. Spend a lot of time on 160 meters with QSOs with friends. Portable operations include train mobile, lighthouses, on frozen lakes, and other unique areas. Also a VE helping out with giving tests for Ham Radio through SARA.

I am an ARRL member!  I am an ARRL WAS and VUCC checker. I am also a ARRL VE.

I use LOGGER32 and N1MM+  logging programs. Great programs, free and easy to use.

10-10 #67566 - FISTS #1947 - Amateur Radio Lighthouse Society #1382 - QRP Amateur Radio Club Int. #9316 - MN QRP Society #13

Currently have ICOM radio, QRP radios, a 310 foot inverted V dipole (north-south) or called a Center Fed Zepp. Tower is a Rohn HDBX 48 foot with Cushcraft X7 yagi (seven element tribander). The K9AY antenna (with 8 radials under it in ground)  and HF2V (80M/40M with eleven 65 foot radials) went up in fall 2009. I have now a 160M vertical Gladiator antenna (2013) and a 5 element 6 Meter beam. Watch for me during some of the contests.  I want to try out an 80 Meter mono type antenna or four square for next project. Suggestions and/or comments are welcome.

I make and use other antennas as time goes by to try and learn.  I will be trying out a Buddipole Deluxe set in Spring 2016 season to see how it works for portable. Going to use IC-7300 for trips/portable. This radio is great.  Selling off other radios for now.

Mobile and/or portable operating so far in Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, South Dakota, North Dakota, Illinois, Ohio, Indiana, Texas, VE3 (Canada), and Vietnam (Ho Chi Minh City, Thu Duc, Phu Quoc Island, and Vung Tau and more in future).

On Nov. 11, 1999  I passed my General class written AND 13 wpm CW test!  On July 20, 2000 I passed the Extra class! I am also a VE through SARA club helping give out ham radio tests.

Attended Dayton Hamvention in 2001, 2006, 2010, 2014, and 2017.

Attended W0DXCC in 2003, 2008, and 2009.

!!! VIETNAM !!!

FIRST trip to Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam was great, between Nov. 16 to 30, 1999 for two and half weeks of ham radio operating and touring. I got about 1700 contacts and will make more trips to Vietnam. Stay tuned. Call sign is 3W6DK operating on 10,15,20, and 40 meter bands.Future trips may also include an IOTA depending on funds.

Older 3W6DK logs now in LoTW. Newer logs will be awhile before on LoTW.

I want QSL cards more!  I will be in the CQ WW SSB as 3W2DK.

If you have several QSOs with me on multiblebands and callsigns (homecall included), send them all together and save on postage and time !!!

(NØODK) : Working on DXCC with 326+ countries worked and 326 confirmed. Three deleted DXCC.

IOTA awards are 100, 200, 300, and 400.   Worked 525+ IOTAs and about 460+ confirmed.

WANTED : I am collecting and reading older RSGB IOTA Directory books. I have the editions 1998/1999, 2000, 2004, 2007, 2009, 2011, 2014, and 2016 but would like other editions. If you have some of the older ones for sale or getting rid of, let me know. I really like chasing IOTAs and learning more about them.

I also collect old Vietnam and Cambodia QSL cards.

I sometimes find CW keys to collect.

Finished 160M SSB WAS (March 2017),  80M SSB WAS award (Jan.2006), 40M SSB WAS (April 2014), 20M SSB WAS (April 2014), 15M SSB (Nov.2014), 10M SSB. Only about 4 states left on 17M. Working on 12M.

I am very active on 160 meters. I have not tried hard on awards yet. Using LoTW for NØODK WAS awards. I am trying to band fills other bands now also.

Just started CQ Zone awards and got the 20M and 15M  SSB WAZ (2016). I need only Zone 18 on ten meters.

Above pictures are Australian Shepherd dogs Zack and Shayla. They lived long lives here and will be missed. I still breed and keep different tropical fish. Currently have ten aquariums and started learning with planted aquariums. Specialize in breeding different Betta Species. One of my favorites is Betta Macrostoma. My bigger aquariums is 125 gallon, 75 gallon, couple 55 gallon aquariums. As the years pass, I will have less aquariums and do other hobbies more.

Other picture is star trails with camera lense open for couple hours at night with moon trailing lower.

The third picture above is at the SARA event at Split Rock Lighthouse Oct 2015 with Dave WØOXB, Jerry NØMR, John W9LHG, and myself, Mike NØODK (yes, I am 6 foot 8 inches tall).

The next two pictures are with friends operating on a frozen lake in a portable Ice House (Jan 2017).

Little about Minnesota weather : Summers can get to mid to high 90*F (July/August) and winters get very harsh down to -15*F to -25*F not including windchill (January/February). During winters we can get sometimes 12 to 24 inches of snow a day. My favorite season is Fall in October when you get warm days and cool nights and tree leaves change color. The Hummingbirds leave and campfires in backyard listening to baseball games on the radio. Also getting ready for the CQ WW SSB contest which is one of my favorite to help look for good DX contacts.

Trips to Vietnam may or may not include radio operating. I want good conditions for over in Vietnam for bad noise on bands from the city there is bad enough. Will try different locations there. If you send an extra greenstamp or two for Vietnam QSL card, thank you very much!!! I try to work more NA zeros and nine land.  I will be in the CQ WW SSB.
