Hello from Southeast Kansas. My name is Russell and I live in the small town of Cherryvale, KS. I have been licensed as a Technician since 1991. I have always been interested in radio since I was a kid. I messed around with CB radios back in the late 70's and early 80's. When they dropped the morse code requirement, I went ahead and took the test for Technician in 1991. I passed on the first try.
I am also a member of the Independence Amateur Radio Club in Independence, Kansas. They operate the N0ID repeaters on 145.490, 442.650 and 147.015, all with a PL tone of 91.5.
I am active on the digital modes D-Star, DMR and Yaesu Fusion, all thanks to the use of hotspots. I operate a DVMega connected to a Raspberry Pi 2 for D-Star, Shark RF Openspot for DMR and a DV4Mini for Fusion. Sadly, there are no digital repoeaters within range of Cherryvale, with the exception of two Fusion repeaters. However the two Fusion repeaters are not linked to the network. I doubt they ever will be.
I also operate an Allstar Link simplex node on 147.570 with a digital code squelch of 162. It is usually connected to the East Coast Reflector, K-Link or The Southwest Missouri Skywarn Repeater Network.
Well that is about it. Hopefully we will be able to meet on the air sometime.
