I've been interested in radio and electronics since I was a small boy. First licensed in 1956,  The initial station consisted of an ARC-5 receiver and a homebrew cw transmitter with a 1625 final.  The 1625's sold for 25cents each in those days.  I've been on the air ever since.  My primary interests seem to be building and experimenting. I've been retired since 1999 after 6 years of engineering with RCA and 30 with HP.  Ham radio experience includes satellites (mostly the old high orbit birds), packet, psk 31, cw, ssb, hf mobile, and in the old days, am phone.

Station equipment:

    Icom 756 Pro III

Homebrew solid state amplifier 600 watts using basic Motorola EB104 design with some mods

Backup amplifier is homebrew and uses a pair of WE701A's built back in the 60's, runs 600-700 watts

Antennas:

TH3 tribander (very old but rebuilt and turned with prop pitch motor),

Tower is only 30 feet high (we get 100 mph winds)  The QTH is 6000 ft above sea level

wire dipoles for 80 and 40

300 foot horizontal loop with tuner.  I got tired of re-installing this antenna with all the wind damage and took it down.

I still have 2 meter capability, but rarely seem to use it anymore.  The satellite gear has all been sold.

Spare transceiver:  Icom IC706 MKIIG
