Eclipse August 21, 2017Eclipse August 21, 2017

Got my ticket on September 28, 2016. I studied for and passed both the Technician and General license tests at that time. Was issued call sign KM4YAA by the FCC, but didn't really like it and wanted a shorter call. So, on February 14, 2017, I received my vanity call N4JBN. On May 18, 2017, I upgraded to Amateur Extra, but more important, my better half, Suzanne - N4JSB, got her Technician ticket at the same VE session!

Even though I hold a Extra license, I'm still a rookie. I'm still building my station and getting involved in the community through my local ham radio club - Dickson County Amateur Radio Club, and ARES. I try to participate in local and regional nets each week.

In my hamshack, I have an ICOM 5100a, DSTAR 2 meter, 70 cm. I have a 17 foot  Tram dual band antenna at approximately 20 feet above ground level. My house is on top of a hill about 750 feet above sea level, so I can reach repeaters up to 50 miles away.

For HF I have a Yaesu FT-450D and a LDG AT-PRoII antenna tuner.

G5RV dipole tied up in trees for 6-40 meters.

75 meter dipole cut to 3.980 mhz.

For Digital DMR: TYT MD-380 DMR and SharkRF Openspot.

Thanks for looking at my page!
