Licensed for over 40 years, first as WN4CLB and later WA4CLB. Primary operation is Digital Modes (RTTY, JT65, JT9 and FT8) and DX Contesting.  Running a IC-7100 and for QRP operation using a Flex 1500 with a Hercules controller, an HW-9 and Tentec Argosy II. One of the earliest members of the Richmond Amateur Radio Telecommunications Society (RATS) where I  served 3 consecutive terms as President.  Lately has discovered DMR and sparked a renewed interest in VHF/UHF and radio networking.

Worked in the IT industry since 1970 and and retired from State Government in 2010.  JB is a retired Senior Adjuct Faculty member of J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College, where he taught for 34 years.   He also taught at Virginia Commonwealth University and for Control Data Corporation.  JB contributed to a number of mainframe programs for a major computer manufacturer.  He is the author and editor of the TenTec Archives at www.qsl.net/tentec.

Currently semi-retired, living in Evergreen, Va. in Appomattox County Virginia and doing consulting for a Government agency in the area of Wireless Services.  A former member of the Richmond Amateur Radio Club (RARC), Richmond Amateur Telecommunications Society (RATS) and the Central Virginia Contest Club (CVCC) and currently a member of the Quarter Century Wireless Association (QCWA), Lynchburg Amateur Radio Club (LARC) and the Potomac Valley Radio Club.

If you hear me on a Digital mode, I am most likely on the Flex 1500 with about 4 watts out into an 85ft End-Fed antenna.
