I have been a Ham since 2008 …. and loving every minute of it.
I sold commercial two way radios and accessories for over 35 years and now that I am retired, I can enjoy hobby radio! I am a member of our local radio club, North Fulton Amateur Radio League (NFARL). Check out www.nfarl.org . I am also part of our ARES Team in North Fulton County
I enjoy many ham radio social activities, field day, and our ARES Simulated Emergency Tests. I work a lot of the digital modes on HF on low power with an attic antenna since I live in a condo. It’s not the best operating conditions, but I still have a lot of fun.
I live in Alpharetta GA, a City of 65,000 population, located about 25 miles north of Atlanta Georgia, our State's Capitol.
Additional personel information is available at: www.jimpaine.com
I spend a lot of time at our home in Venice Florida so you will see a grid square of EL87sd when I operate digital from there.
I have plans in 2016 to be active in NPOTA and activate National Parks in Georgia and Florida as well as being a chaser.
I hope to run into you on the air!
In 2014 I have a lot of fun with friends working islands in and around Florida and activating them with the US Islands Awards Program (http://usislands.org/)
Pepperfish Keys in the Gulf of Mexico near Steinhatchee Florida May 2 and 3, 2014 with Terry W4YBV. Having fun with ham radio!
Turkey Islands Micro DxPedition November 22 and 23, 2014 right before Thanksgiving! With Terry W4YBV and Wes W3WL on the Historic Suwannee River about 18 miles from the Gulf of Mexico. Yes, we were "Way down apon the Suwannee River"
