Hi, thanks for looking up my call. I am a mechanical engineer and am retired after 33 years with NAVFAC (civilian with the US Navy) in Norfolk VA. I enjoy DXing and rag-chewing. My home station here in Virginia Beach currently consist of an ICOM 7800, Kenwood TL-922A amp, feeding a Carolina Windom for  30, 40 and 80 and a Mosley CL-33WAC on a small 10M tower for higher bands.

I also enjoy ham radio from our Grand Design, Reflection 303 5th wheel RV. The RV station is an IC-7100 going through an IC-AH4 tuner at the base of a 31 foot fiberglass pole connected to the ladder using the rig as a counter poise.

I owe my interest and enthusiasm in ham radio to my neighbor and Elmer, Joe, W4KNC (SK).  He moved in the house across the street from me when I was around 7 yrs old.  He had a shack in his basement with  very large receiver and transmitter.  Joe was a retired Navy aviation radio operator.  He primarily flew in patrol planes like WV2 and the P2V.  Any way it was like space central to me to  see him talking all over the world.  It took me a while to finally get my license but the fire that was always smoldering inside was kindled by Joe.

73, Dave (Middle Name)
