Thanks for stopping by!

I'm a relatively new amateur, getting my Tech and General tickets in July of 2013.  I got my Extra ticket a few months later in October 2013.  I work mainly HF bands with SSB and Digital modes, but I'm also learning code and have been doing some CW, on a good day around 10 WPM.  I also play around with 6m when it's open, as well as UHF/VHF.

For shack equipment, I have a Yaesu FT-950 which I've souped up with an IF2000 card and an AFEDRI SDR, the output of which connects to a Windows 10 PC running HDSDR.    My Yaesu is connected to an Ameritron ALS-600 solid-state amp.  My main antenna is a NA4RR Hex Beam, up about 35' on a push-up mast with a Yaesu G-DX1000 rotator bottom mounted.  My secondary antennas are a Hustler 6BTV vertical with 36 radials, as well as an EFHW-8010 multiband end fed for the lower frequencies.

For 6m VHF, my main antenna is a home-built five-element loop-fed yagi made from plans at http://www.g0ksc.co.uk/5el-41mtr-boom-lfa.html.  For 2m/70cm I've got an Edison Fong J-Pole antenna paired with a Yaesu FTM-400DR transceiver set up as a base station.

For portable work, I use an Elecraft KX3, with a Hardrock-50 solid state amp unless I'm running QRP.  My portable antennas are a MFJ "Big Ear" on a 16' painter's pole, a 5-band "fishing pole vertical" (see May 2014 QST) and a Par End-Fedz with a 31' Jackite pole.

I'm a member of the Stephen F. Austin Radio Club (w5sfa.org), ARRL (VE), W5YI (VE), NAQCC (member #7702) and QRP-ARCI (member #15375).

Hope to meet you on the air!

Roger
