I began working with electronics at an early age. Worked with Ambulance and Police Radios in the 1970'-80's. Originally licensed as an amateur in 1991, I was the control op of two repeaters 2M-70cm, and worked a lot of Amateur Satellite contacts on AO13, and nothing below 2M. Took a consulting job in 2001 which required a lot of travel. I recently became active as a Ham again, licensed as Extra Class, and requested my original call as a vanity, N5VSW. I owe a lot to my mentor-Elmer Nate, WB5CQK/W5FE, and my friends Mark Manes WC5I, and Dave Henderson, and Rick Mish. My hobby is restoring old radios and shortwave sets. These days I like HF, 160 up through 6M mostly phone, though I am listening to CW, and decoding with a keyer-decoder, trying to teach myself Morse. I like restoring old tube sets, mostly Zenith Trans-Oceanics, and boat anchors.

My Primary Xcvr rig is a Flex 3000, running 100 watts, into a Alpha Delta DX-LB Plus Dipole antenna at 30 feet inverted Vee sloping to 12ft.  with an IT100 Tuner. K42CW Keyer.

I have a Yeasu FT847 for UHF-VHF All Mode Base, IC7000, and a Drake TR4 with Power Supply that I have recapped and aligned.

Recently I have buit a Rasberry PI 2 based D-Star Hotspot, running the PI-Star Software, and an Icon ID-51A Radio.

I collect BoatAnchors including a 1961 Stewart Warner R390A, Collins R390A, Amelco R390A, and Collins R388 and Hammarlund SP-600, and a Watkins Johnson 8716 with the Tempest EMC/EMI Hardening. With a couple CV591 SSB Converters, and they work beautifully together. Al the receivers are connected to antenna with a multicoupler

73 and great DX'ing to everyone. Ken.
