I am a second generation ham, getting my first license in 1971. I retired in 2008 as the fire chief of a California valley fire department. I now live in Mariposa County at 3000 feet above sea level. I live on the south side of Yosemite National Park in the Sierra National Forest.

The rig is an Yaesu FTDX-3000D and the amplifier is a Yaesu Quadra VL-1000.  I also have an old Icom IC-735 as a back-up rig.

My current antenna system consist of the following:

On 6 thru 40 mtrs, I am using a SteppIR 3 Element beam (with 4 on 6m) on a 55 foot Tashjian (Tri-Ex) crank-up tower.

On 75 mtrs (and 40 mtrs) I am using a Unadilla trapped dipole, with the center at 40 ft, and the ends hang from several of the many pine trees located on the property.

I also have an old Butternut HF6V all-band vertical that I use as a back-up antenna.

That is it from here. I hope to hear you on the air!
