Thanks for taking a look.

I started in radio as a broadcast station engineer and DJ while attending college. After obtaining my 1st class ticket (Commercial Radio Operator's License) in 1969, I worked at some of Dick Clark's AM stations (yes, that Dick Clark) and did some microwave work for closed circuit televised special events shown in movie theaters, including several Sonny Liston championship fights and Beatles concerts.

After obtaining degrees in telecommunications and "Radio and Television Programming and Production" (there was such a degree in the early 1970's), I continued in radio and also did some TV station control ops jobs. Radio and TV engineering and production work is very competitive and there are too many people willing to do more work for less pay, so I went back to college. I applied to Riverside County Sheriff's Department when they were paying well ($975 monthly) and recruiting young adults with degrees. I was looking for full time work, not so much to be a cop, although many relatives were in law enforcement. I was hired as a deputy sheriff. I lasted there for about 18 years before injuries took their toll, retiring as a Senior Sheriff's Investigator assigned to homicide.

Long story short, I hurt my back in 1982. A friend in the broadcast industry introduced me to ham radio as something I could do while lying on my back after surgery. I obtained my novice license in 1982 and continued in the hobby until I had my Advanced license.

Today, my kids are grown, graduated, and living elsewhere. I have an office in Upland and a home office that shares space with my shack. Lately my interest has been in D-Star and digital communications. I can communicate in most every mode and frequency depending on what coax is connected to what radio at the time. I try to stay on top of the hobby while working, attending Angels baseball games, judging Kansas City BBQ events (I am a certified BBQ judge!), hanging around Disneyland, and riding my Harley here and there. I usually can be found in a BBQ joint or a Disneyland bar. Just give me a shout.
