Welcome to my QRZ page....

First licensed in 1952, WN8PLL, in Cincinnati Ohio, at age 13. General class, W8PLL, a year later. First rig was a Lysco 600 transmitter (single 807) and a Halicrafters S-40B receiver. QTH was at the bottom of a hill. Didn't work much DX with the dipoles.... Upgraded to a Federal Marine 167B Transmitter (pair of 813's). Receiver was a National NC-183D. Many thanks to my parents. Off to college in 1957. Not much hamming after that until.... Active again in California beginning in about 1973 as W6PLO. I took the extra class exam at the FCC office in San Francisco and obtained one of the last N6 two letter call signs. On the air from Cupertino, California in 1975 - 1979, using a TenTec Triton 544 transceiver, with one of the first digital readout dials. Had a 50 ft tower topped with a 3 element AS3 yagi. Ham heaven.... Working DX at last but had to go QRT again until about 1992 when I was once more on the air from Santa Cruz, California. I retired to Florida in 2001. The current station consists of a K3 to an Alpha 87A amp (when necessary). Antennas are a SteppIR 4 element yagi and a pair of half-slopers, one favoring East and one West for the low bands 160-30m. The latest toy is a KX3, running 10W on solar power.... Just beginning to work a bit of SSB phone after all these years of CW. Enjoy working the DX expeditions whenever they come up.
