Special Event Station N7UW

Rededication Ames Monument

Constructed by  the Union Pacific Railroad in 1882 to Oakes and Oliver Ames, 2 of the principal individuals responsible for the construction of the first transcontinental railroad in 1869. Designed by  H.H. Richardson and standing at the highest point on  the original  route near the old townsite of Sherman Wyoming. The monument is 60x60ft square and 60ft high and  located at an altitude of 8,247ft.

 

Operating Frequencies

We will be attempting to operate on the following HF frequencies: 7.230, 14.260, 14.045. Due to the expected contest congestion we may have to move around the bands a bit, and listen for us on the 30 Meter Band. If you are in the South Western part of Wyoming or travailing past the Vedauwoo area on I-80 try giving us a call on 146.520 FM, we will be listening. We plan to operate Saturday, July 8, 2017, 1500 (UTC) to Saturday, July 8, 2017, 2300 (UTC).

 

 

QSL Information

We will have a handsome certificate depicting the Ames Monument and a QSL card for stations that we have worked and have received a QSL card from. A self addressed stamped envelop (SASE) is not required (but always appreciated).

Laramie Area Amateur Radio Net

The club participates in the Laramie Area Amateur Radio Net, a weekly VHF net on Sundays at 6:15 pm. The UARC repeater frequency is 146.61 MHz with a 600 kHz negative offset, or 146.61 MHz simplex, in case of repeater malfunction.
