(Yogi and Boo-Boo)                         Our Cat...."Moses"

My vanity call sign N8OGI is a reminder of my very early days in radio.   In the 70's, before the CB craze started, I was known as the "Bear" station.    Soon, I met and began talking with a young lady on the radio.   A nearby radio shop owner said that since we were always talking together that we should have complimentary handles.  Soon, I became known as "Yogi" bear and the young lady became known as "BooBoo" bear (after a popular television cartoon).  Today, the love story continues as YOGI and BooBoo married a few years later and she is still the love of my life even after 40 years of marriage!  I am very fortunate to have a "YL" that enjoys hearing the radios!

Currently, I am simply running the Kenwood TS-570S for HF work, along with a Toshiba laptop and Ham Radio Deluxe software to do my logging, radio control, and some digital modes (usually PSK-31).  I still do a lot of voice/SSB work as well.  For the antenna, I use a single wire "LNR Precision (PAR) End-Fedz EF-QUAD" for 10, 15, 20, and 40 meters.

Even though I've had the capability and have received pictures for some time, I just recently (June 2017) sent my first picture on Slow Scan (SSTV) on 14.230 MHZ and got back my first confirmation.  Pretty neat!

I am "Ambassadors for Christ" net member #1069.

Hope to "log you" soon!
