The USS Hornet ARC is an ongoing club and will be so for the foreseeable future. Licensed amateur radio operators will be considered for membership upon application.
We have established an amateur radio presence on the USS Hornet, and if possible, will establish period radio room(s) for the time period 1944 to 1970. The current radio room equipment is Harris RF-350's with remote boards and computer controls. This allows for VFO operation. We also have a CW operating position consisting of a TCK-7 transmitter at 100/400 watts and a R-390 receiver. All antennas are original U.S. Navy verticals or wire antennas.
We are also involved with the Boy Scouts of America by conducting a Radio Merit Badge Program.
