I took my Technician test in Greensboro 11/8/14 and passed so I continued on with the General exam and passed that also.  My first call sign was KM4FTQ.  I immediately requested a new call sign, N9RAN.  The new call sign is based on my initials.  I lived most of my early life in NJ.  After working 32 years for the Department of the Army, I retired in 2000 and moved to NC to a more pleasant climate.  The new location is better for golf.

I joined the Moore County Amateur Radio Society and passed my upgrade exam to Amateur Extra on 21 March 2015.  My new call sign assigned was KW4HP.  I didn't like the ID assigned, so I went for a vanity call sign; North Carolina 4 Robert Nichols (NC4RN).
