I have been here on the island of Puerto Rico since 1973. I got my Novice in 1981 with the General to follow in 1982. Raised two daughters here in PR and saw them move to New Mexico and Florida to "see the rest of the world". I dropped out of ham radio operations in 1990 or so and came back in 2012. Of course I forgot to renew after 10 years, so I did the re-licensing all over and it was an eye opening experience. I'm glad I had to do it as 75% of ham operations did not exist to the extent they do today. No satellites, I suppose no EME and much more.

My original radio was an Heathkit homebuilt HW-101. I sent it to the states for overhaul at RTO Electronics in CA. Excellent service they do have. The radio and all peripherals are like new. No complaints.

I am in the process of purchasing a FT-897D. Will run everything off the roof of the house (AV-640) on the SE side of PR, 75 feet from the  Caribbean Sea.

We have built a new office for me below the house and included a room to house the shack and its contents. Pics will be up in the future.
