First licensed as WD4NJR in 1977, assigned NQ4Y in 1981.  I maintain the 145.41 repeater on Monteagle Mtn, TN.  It consists of a Motorola MSF 5000, DSP404 controller, Wacom Duplexers and a Phelps Dodge antenna. The elevation at the site is 2300 feet HAMSL.  Many thanks to KE4MBU, Ken and the other outstanding hams of Grundy county for the awesome repeater location. Also many thanks to the team of volunteers who helped install the tower and antenna system (AF4JJ, KE4MBU, KE4MBV, KF4VMB, K1KY and others.) The picture above was taken by AF4JJ from the top of the tower.

I enjoy working HF/VHF/UHF voice, CW and contests.  I am currently experimenting with DMR. DMR ID: 3147506

At the Monteagle Mountain, Tennessee repeater site:

  • 145.41 MHz, tone 114.8. Echolink node 2043. DMR ID - 314724 (experimental)
  •  53.45 MHz, tone 114.8.
  • 145.55 MHz, X1J4 Packet Digipeater. Local BBS is KD4XV-1, Wally.

I was a DJ at WGSQ-FM Cookeville in the 80s. I also worked at WSMT-FM 105.5 in Sparta. I am an alumni of Tennessee Technology University with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science.  I am a CISSP and a software engineer, Linux System administrator and I work in Cybersecurity.  I am also a musician, I play keys/synth with a band.  I use a Roland JP80 and MBP/Ableton Live Suite/Mainstage.  I use many virtual instruments such as VB3, Omnisphere, Native Instruments and Arturia in almost every set.
