Ham Member Lookups: 8013

A ham radio operator since 1980, I have been very active on all bands during the years of 1980-1985, 1990-1992, and 2001-2008. At the moment, I am in the process of building a contest station at my summer cottage QTH, located on an uninhabited small island, just 15 km south-west of the city of Vaasa. Now and then, I do participate in contests from there - just for fun.

QTH: Maalahti, OHC 653

Grid loc: KP03qa

Radio equipment:

2 x Yaesu FTdx5000, 1 x Yaesu FTdx3000 and a Kuhne TR144H transverter for 144 MHz

Amplifiers:

HF: OM-Power OM2500A (GU-84b) and a semi-automatic Russian military amplifier, modified for ham radio use by YL2GM (GU-78b)

2M: ME-3000V (GU-78b) by HA1YA

Antennas:

10M-15M-20M: A stack of three Hy-Gain TH7DX tribanders at 17 m, 28 m and 39 m AGL

6M-40M: Hy-Gain AV-640 multiband vertical by the sea

80M: half-wave dipole at 34 m AGL

Miscellaneous:

- High Power Band Pass Filters by 4O3A

- 10M-15M-20M High Power Triplexer by 4O3A

In future, the antennas for 40M and 80M will be considerably improved; also, antennas for 2M, 6M, 160M and WARC bands will be installed. Most likely, also another, a shorter tower will be erected to make it possible to beam several directions at the same time. A plenty of room to erect towers and antennas at my QTH is available as there are no neighbours nearby. Thanks to the remote location of my QTH, with no neighbours living there all year round in the radius of several kilometers, I am blessed with extremely low noise levels.

OH6BG's CW Skimmer Server is also located in my QTH, and it's connected to the TH7DX stack and AV-640 antennas when nobody is QRV.

Hy-Gain AV-640 6 - 40 m vertical by the sea

  Hy-Gain AV-640 multiband vertical (6M - 40M)

PRO.SIS.TEL PST71D rotator at the basement of the tower + underground 7/8" and 1/2" hard line coax cables to the ham shack

A temporary ham shack during 2017 CQ WW CW Contest: TR4W as a contest logging software, LP-PAN 2 & Asus Xonar U7 & NaP3 as a panadapter and a prototype of CAT Bridge software for FTdx5000 CAT port sharing between TR4W, NaP3 and OM2500A.
