Our town, RONSE a small city from 26.000 residents. A nice place to live in
Just on the frontier between the Flemish and French part of Belgium.

The area is called The Flemish Ardennes. ( The hills area )
Or in French, La région du Pays des Collines.

A great part from my family is from Asia. 


I'have start radio in 1977 when i was 13y. with my grand father Joseph CW operator in the Belgian Post Company, and my grand uncle Julien de ON4JX ( Also  CW op. ).In 1986 military service. Radio operator in the Belgian Army in Weiden ( Germany ) at the 4°TTR unit. Driver and operator from a Mercedes Unimog 404, with RITA communication setup. RITA = Réseau Intégré (de) Transmission Automatique = Automatic Integrated Transmission Network - In VHF/UHF/SHF- 

Before a brain hemorrhage in 2011and ♿️ I had other hobby.

As the Germans kept advancing and kept pushing the Belgian army back towards the river Yser.  The Belgians stood their ground at a bridge near a small town in the neighborhood. As the situation was precarious the army decided to open the waterlock gates and to flood one of the canals. This resulted in the flooding of the whole region towards the German. The German attack came to a halt and so creating the first frontline which lasted till the end of the war. I

Poppies are the only plants which still blowing on the destroyed grounds
when nothing more grows like that was the case on WW1 battlefields around Yser.
The poppy was the object of a poem " In Flanders fields " of 

Lieutenant-colonel John McCrae
and became the symbol of the World War 1

The Belgian army start the WW1 in 1914 with this wireless communication setup... only pigeon  !

 Rapidly follow by the experimental CW setup.
