Special event station to commemorate 100 years of wire of death
During World War I the full Belgian-Dutch border was sealed with an electric wire barricade. The population was looking stunned, because in 1915 almost nobody knew what electricity was. Accidents and escape attempts had more than 1,000 deaths. The wire of death started from the very western part of Belgium to the very eastern part of Belgium and ended in the German city Aachen. The total lenght was more than 180km long, and had a deadly voltage around the 2000 Volts.
