At the 22nd of March 2015, American veterans and many of their sons and daughters and other relatives will come to Bastogne and Wesel to walk in their fathers footsteps and remember the 70th anniversary of these battles and the lost of so many peoples.

To commemorate this event, on the 22nd of March 1945 an amateur radio station with a special call “OT70BULGE” will be on the air to make as many as possible contacts all over the world and will confirm every contact with a special QSL-card. This station will start around 10.00 o’clock AM local time and will work in SSB and CW on the bands 10, 15, 20, 40 and 80 meters.

Walking in the veterans footsteps. On Sunday the 22nd of March 2015, an association of Belgian friends of the 101st Airborne Division will organize a walk to honor the men of the 17th Airborne Division. That walk leads you over a ridge near Flamièrge later re-named into “Dead Man’s Ridge” because of so many casualties and dead. During this walk the special radio station will be on the air. You are most invited to make a contact.

The walk is open to everyone, either in civilian clothes or in World War II uniform of all allied forces.  Re-enactors in their uniforms are as always  most welcome too. There are two itineraries: 7.5 km (4 miles) and 15 km (10 miles). The walk starts at 09.30 hours in Houmont close to Bastogne with at 14.00 hours a ceremony at Flamièrge. You are most welcome to take part. The coordinates for Houmont are 49° 59' 45' 'N - 5° 35' 7' 'E
