For decades I traveled to various countries in the Caribbean carrying portable antennas and transceivers to operate radio contests. It was a lot of fun! In June 2001, I purchased a home in Aruba and named it Iguana Villa. It was located in the finest residential area, not far from the beach, and the home was rented to tourists and a few other amateur radio operators while I was away. The first tower went up in October 2001. I designed and built all of the antennas except for the shortened 40m beam and the station worked very well. My XYL and I spent four to six weeks a year at the house and I participated in most of the major ham radio contests.

Owning this vacation home was a fantastic experience however for a variety of reasons it was sold in April 2009. As part of the sales agreement, I was able to continue to use the house and station for an additional two years. In March 2011, with the help of WD9DZV /P40D, the station was completely dismantled. It was sad to see this come to an end. Luckily we are still having fun. My XYL and I still travel to Aruba once a year for a contest/vacation. Our most recent P40A trip was in October 2016. We also go to St Croix, VI every March for a contest/vacation where I operate using the callsign WP2AA  Thanks for the QSOs!
