Beacon is on air !

Beaconmode is: PI4

Scattermode is: Iscat-B

And feel free to mail me screen-shots/audio recordings when I'm doing

digital modes. Specially screenshots from my PI4 beacon..

On 70.095.000 having a multimode beacon with JT9G/H, ISCAT-B, PI4 & WWV.

For receiving all modes it is not required to change you dial frequency.

Needed programms are: PI4-rx (PI4-mode), WSJT9 (Iscat-B), MMSSTV (wwv)

For the new JT9 fast modes you need to have WSJT-X V1.6.1 develope version

For all modes the dial is 70.094.200 USB when using one of those

programms. When right tuned the CW carrier is at 800Hz.

Therefor the announce frequency in the cluster is 70.095 !!!

The PI4 mode is time scheduled from 9.00 UTC till  23.00 UTC

The WWV mode is time scheduled at 11:00 UTC, 17:00 UTC & 21:00 UTC

for a limited time of 10 minutes to do your (SSTV) adjustments.

The Iscat-B mode is also time scheduled with the major big showers

and is scheduled from 18.00 UTC till 9.00 UTC.

The JT9H mode is scheduled as when it is noticed

The major showers are:   1/1 -    9/1      Bootiden

                                         1/6 -  13/6     Arietiden

                                         7/8 -  19/8     Perseiden

                                       8/12 - 18/12    Geminiden

The Iscat-B sequence is:     00 - 29 seconds Iscat-B callsign/locator

                                          30 - 47 seconds CW FSK callsign/locator

                                          48 - 59 seconds CW carrier

   The JT9H sequence is:     00 - 30 seconds JT9H callsing/locator

                                           31 - 48 seconds CW FSK callsign/locator

                                           49 - 59 seconds CW carrier

      The PI4 sequence is:     00 - 24 seconds PI4 callsign

                                          25 - 42 seconds CW FSK callsign/locator

                                          43 - 59 seconds CW carrier

Also there is a CW-special mode for e.g season greetings.

Season greetings are from 24/12 - 26/12

The beacon produces 10w input into a 4-band inverted-V.

On request I can change power/mode/time for experiments.

PI4 is designed to serve most kind of (known) propagation.

Like tropo, Es, Au, meteor scatter and airplane scatter.

When you hear the beacon, I prefer to notice it in the DX-cluster.

The beacon is already heard by 20 DXCC:

9A, 9H, CT, DL, EA, F, G, GM, GW, IK, IS, LZ, OE, OH,ON, OZ, PA, S52, SV,TF

Propagation type receivement: 1= decode 0= no decode *= no one tried this

               CW        PI4

Tropo        1            1

Es              1            1

MS            1            1

AS             1            1

Au             1            1

TEP           *            *

EME          *           *

As seen in the list it is very important you use the PI4-rx programm for examing

the PI4-mode. Without this it is like: Hey, I hear a digital signal but don't know

who it is.

For more info/software use these links:

!A new beacon with AD9912 and STM32 is under construction!

Everything is homebrew with the Arduino 2560, DDS 9850

and the OZ2M 10/4 transverter with PA.

When you self want to run a PI4-beacon or normal CW, this can

very cheap. For aprox. 20,- euro you have a nice ready kit.

(price is exclude GPS-unit from Ebay or so). Take a watch at:

But when you like, you can change the Ultimate

software into my written PI4-programm.

PI4 software for the Arduino 2560 is written in Arduino's C++

A PI4-version in C++ for the Ultimate 3 is availble.

And I have a CW-keyer for the Ultimate 3.

Also an setup for all ports of the Ultimate 3

for programming your own software.

C++ software and pictures are availble with this link:
