Hi all,

Currently I’m hardly ever QRV save local 2m and Echolink occasionally but I really enjoy operating from major Scouting events, like PA6N/J on HF from the National Jamboree 2004, GB5EJ from the European Jamboree in 2005, GB100J from the World Jamboree in England 2007 during the Centenary of Scouting, PA2008NJ/J National Jamboree 2008, DP9S Bundeslager Seitenweit 2009, PA2009IC Intercamp 2009, PA100SLJ/J Sweet Lake Jamboree in Zoetermeer, 2010, PA100J/J Jubilee Jamboree 2010, SJ22S from the World Jamboree 2011in Sweden, DP9S on the German Bundeslager Weitwinkel 2013.

The announced special call PA13EUROJAM, August 2013 for the CES Eurojam in Ommen has not been aired due to family circumstances.

In July 2014 I operated

PA14NAWAKA/J from the NaWaKa in Roermond, The Netherlands. I was running the kit soldering activity at the Haarlem Jamborette in 2015 and I was on the team of HF6CEJ on the Central European Jamboree, 4-14 August 2016 in Wroclaw, Poland.

Future plans include the Bundeslager in 2017 near Berlin, and in 2018 the Roverway and the NaWaKa in The Netherlands. See you on the scout frequencies!

For several years I operated during the Jamboree On The Air weekend as PA5UL/J from the premises of Scouting Ashanti in Zoetermeer, Holland where I lived between 1995-2012. In 2007 I operated JOTA as PA50UL/J, to celebrate JOTA’s 50th anniversary and my own semi-centennial ;). In 2008 I was invited to join the JOTA team of HB9S, the World Scout Bureau in Geneva. In 2009 I went there again and we operated as HE8S. In 2014 I participated in the Deutschsprachiges JOTA-JOTI Konferenz in Germany.

Having retired, after some 38 years of active service, from the Royal Netherlands Navy I moved house to Zuidwending in the province of Groningen in the Summer of 2012. I now have a great location where I can erect some decent HF antenas. Hopefully I’ll become more QRV from my home QTH soon too. However there are still a lot of refurbishing and other higher priority issues on my to-do list before I will finish my new shack and erect the tower. I have joined the local VERON chapter A27 Kanaalstreek and enjoy the activities there. In JOTA 2012 and following years I visited a number of participating groups in Groningen and Drenthe on behalf of the national organisation. A great way to get to know this part of the country!

JOTA 2015 I visited all 17 stations in the provinces of Groningen, Friesland and Drenthe. I've formally been appointed Regional JOTA-JOTI Advisor (RJJA) for Dutch Rayon B, comprising these three provinces, from 1-1-2016.

As long as I'm not active on HF yet you can add me to your alarm list in Echolink and call me when you notice I'm QRV. I usually participate in the weekly UK Scout Net, every Saturday 09:00 UK time, on Echolink conference *JOTA-365* and the monthly World Scout Net every first Saturday of the month at 22:00 UTC in the same Echolink conference. All radio-scouts are cordially invited to join in on either net. You can also find me on sites like Facebook.com, Dutchfleet.net, Nederlandsemilitaria.com, Ecologieforum.eu and Schoolbank.nl.

Me front left at local club meeting, date unknown but probably late '80s

This picture with me front left was taken at PI1DHV (now PI4DHV), a local VERON club meeting in Den Helder, probably in the late '80s.
