Contestgroup Oude Maas

PI4COM.

Our Contest group is named after the river we are located next to.

The river "Oude maas" is a highly used traffic route for vessels to and from the Port of Rotterdam.

We are a small contest group with 11 members, in 2015 we celebrated our 25th anniversary of the station as PI25COM.

Our first contest QSO’s were logged in 1990 and we are still active as of today. Right now our log exists of more than 330.000 QSO’s on 160m till 70cm. PI4COM is always there in the major contests like CQ WW, ARRL and WPX. Very often our members use the station to work DX-expeditions or simply DX. PI4COM is for many years a very competitive station and plenty of Netherlands best contesters have started their radio contesting career here.

Down below you will find the station as it is today. For more detailed information about the station and recent updates i would like to bring you to our website www.pi4com.nl or become friends with us on Facebook, both maintained by Alex PA1AW.

Our QSL manager is PA3CAL.

Direct, please enclose a minimum $2+SAE. NO IRC, otherwise by bureau.

Shortly after a contest we upload to LOTW and Clublog.

In case of problems with QSL'ing, please get in contact with Peter, PA3CAL by E-mail.

Nowadays, our station exists of 5 towers.

We have 3 almost identical 4x7m military crank-up towers built by the German army in 1964, max height 24m(82ft)

A 2x8 Byzen tower, max height 15m(50ft)

3x10m crank-up tower, max height 27m(88ft)

This is our 7 element 10m yagi+dipole 10m.

top: vertical 10m

top:7 element 10m

bottom: fixed 5 element 15(NA)

Optibeam OB6-15 6 element wide spaced monoband Yagi 15m. boom lenght is 15m.

This is a real killer!! The rotator is an Italian made prosistel PST61D.

5 Element widespaced ZX-YAGI, 12m boom. 24 meters high. Rotator is an ORION(M²)2800.

Placed under the yagi, a wide-band 80m fan-dipole. usable for CW, RTTY and SSB

Right now it also includes a dipole for 60 meters.

This is a 15m byzenmast, it's built by a dutch company in the north of our country.

The bottom yagi is a Cushcraft DB 12/17. 3 elements on 17 and 4 elements on 12.

The top yagi is a 4 element wide spaced 10meter yagi at about 18meters.

Rotator is a orion 2800.

Right now it also hosts a dipole for 40 and a VHF/UHF vertical for local communication.

The tower is a 3x10m crank mast and can reach a full height of 27 meters. This used to be our tower for the 3 elements 40 yagi that came down a few years ago(shown on the picture).

In 2007 the boom snapped and unfortunatly we had to remove it due to the high cost of repairing.

The elements are still in our storage, we hope we can bring it back to glory in the future.

Right now we use a 4 square by DX-engineering in contests plus a dipole.

Tower today, has a Fixed (EU/Middle east) 3element yagi for 20m.

Vertical for 80m, also 5/8wl on 30m. For RX we use several beverages and K9AY receiving loops.

160 vertical. 40m high. came down in 2015.

1996 raising the 160m groundplane.
