I have been licensed as V31TP for 25 years. The call is in honor of my Grandfather Dr.Thomas Patterson (V31TP) who along with my Grandmother were assigned to work in Belize after WW1. They were a combination Doctor and Nurse, husband and wife team. Their first trip into the interior of Belize (British Honduras in those day) was by boat. Both my parents were born in Belize and many members of my family still live there.

The station we uses are Elecraft K-3s. The antennas are more like field day antennas as to a large contest station. We use a Butternut HF-2 for 160, a Cushcraft A-3 and a dipole for 40 and 80 meters. The amp is a Ameritron AL-80B 600 watts. A modest station but effective. I will tell you the overlook into the valley below is at least 400 ft. so I can almost see the lights burning in Texas

We have taken World 2 time in the Multi-single class in the ARRL DX CW contest. So as you can see a little station can take on the world and win.
