First off -- I love QSL cards! If you send me one in the mail, I'll send you one back in the return mail. And if you want to avoid postage expenses, send me one via the bureau. If you email me to say you want one via bureau, I'll send mine via bureau so you don't have to wait for your bureau card to arrive in Canada.

Regardless whether you found me as VA3TTB or as CF3TTB (using the special callsign for 2017), thank you for dropping by. And I do hope that, if we had a QSO, it was a pleasant experience for you. (If not, please let me know what I did wrong!)

I was interested in amateur radio as a teenager but didn't have the opportunity to become licensed when university, family and life got in the way. Now that I am retired from medicine, I had the opportunity to write exams for my Basic and Advanced Qualification exams from Industry Canada at the end of 2016. After a 50 year wait, I get to enjoy amateur radio.

When choosing a callsign, my initials were already taken so I chose those of my 2 year old grandson Tobias, who I hope will want to use this callsign someday.

My station is a very modest setup, running a barefoot Icom IC-7600 which puts a maximum of 100 watts into a Transworld portable vertical dipole. It sits in the backyard which is, thankfully, large enough to hold a more permanent antenna, to be installed when the warmth of Spring arrives.

As a teenager, I built a tube-type Heathkit stereo system, but could only dream of building their amateur radio gear. Since becoming licensed, I inherited some old Heathkit equipment which I am looking forward to rehabilitating and getting back into use.

I would very much appreciate confirmation of a QSO. This can be done by direct QSL (no SASE), bureau, LOTW or eQSL. And if I am making a mistake, please correct me.

73, Charles
