Ham Member Lookups: 917

I've been an active ham for nearly two decades and I hold the Canadian Basic License, 5 word CW, and the Canadian Advanced License.  My main interests are DXing, and portable operating on island and lighthouse activations.  I also dabble with WSPR on a regular basis, and chase SOTA activations when I remember to.

I would be remiss if I didn't mention my three original elmers: Steve VE7OF, Rusty VE7OM, and Eric VE7CVQ.  All three of them have long been SK's, but if it wasn't for them planting the radio seeds early in my teenage years I would never have got into the hobby.

I'm the past Chairman of the Frontenac County Amateur Radio Club, and an active member of their Emcomm Team.   If you are in the Kingston area on a Sunday night, feel free to check into the Frontenac Net at 1930 hrs local time on VE3FRG, 146.805 (-) with a 203.5 tone.

There are several rigs in the shack, the main operating rig is a Yaesu FT-950, operating portable I use ether a FT-897D or FT-817ND.  My main antenna at home is a 80m OCF Dipole up at 50', and a 148' long wire "inverted L" up at 60'.  For portable work I use either a buddypole or an MFJ 17' collapsible whip.

NOTE:  When transmiting on WSPR I use the 148' long wire inverted L antenna up at 60'.
